I am a lover of all things old. Rusty things, vintage things, broken old things, found things, thrift store buys, anything I remember from my childhood, and things I saw at my Gran's house when I was little. I love using them in old ways as they were intended or sometimes new altered and mosaic ways, as long as they are not thrown away. I am a country living and loving woman. I love Jesus, my husband, my kids, my grandkids, my family, my dogs, my cats and my chickens, ducks, and rabbit. Gardening is my summer love and long summer days in the yard under the shade tree with my sisters and the breeze blowing. Ahhhh. Life is good.

RAIN RAIN

Rain Rain go away. It has rained all day. At least it's not snow. I saw some easter flowers peeking thru the ground yesterday. Oh I can hardly wait for spring I am SO excited. Here is another pic of my big rooster. I call him "Boss" since he is the head honcho of the bunch. Bought plane tickets yesterday to go to California in April. Yippee... Oh and one of my young ducks has an injured leg, he is limping. I think they are fighting. Mating season has begun. Love Love Love this life.

Swim Little Ducky Swim

The ducks have returned to the lake. Just didn't have the heart to keep them up anymore. Hopefully the lake will not freeze again since I feel SPRING IN THE AIR. Yippee... Now I am wishing for some baby ducks.

Oh Sunny Day & Chickens

I have spent part of the day outside in the finally warmer sunshine. Yippee for warmer days. My chickens and ducks were much happier today. The chickens have resumed laying eggs after a winter break. Now I wont have to buy eggs anymore, at least till next winter. I plan to raise some baby chicks this spring, or rather I plan on my hens raising some. Soon we will put the ducks back out on the lake, after the danger of a frozen lake and coyotes have passed. Hopefully we will get baby ducks too. Here are a few pictures of my chickens from last fall. And I put a couple more vintage items on my etsy shop today also. Check it out at http://www.carlaraevintage.etsy.com/

Cleo

For all of us who have a dog that we love beyond reason, here is a picture of one of my constant companions, Cleo. We got her as a little puppy and she is now going on 7 years old. Cleo is what anybody could want in a pet. She loves me unconditionally, she is always a joy, always happy to see me, loves my company, and is always there for me. What more could you want in a pet?  So if you love your dog treat it right, love it back and the reward is beyond measure. Just thought I would say this today, and by the way I have 2 more little dogs who share my life too.

Hit The Jackpot

Hubby & I found half a truckload of vintage tools thrown out by somebody and we picked them ALL up and brought them home. I know alot of people could care less about these old things but it broke my heart. Somebody kept these tools all their life and when they passed on the family tossed them all out. Some of this stuff came from the early 1900s or before. I feel like we did a good deed by saving them from going to the landfill and maybe they will find their way now to some who will love them again. Us for now but some will end up in my etsy shop sooner or later for others to buy and others we will keep for us. I am so glad we were in the right place at the right time.

Snow or No

We are just on the edge of the line for the big snow storm going thru so I hope to avoid it. I know I sure am tired of winter and can hardly wait for spring. I am not a winter person. I like to be outside too much, and I don't mean in the cold. It has rained all day so I did get some things done around the house. Crafting took some time, and the clean up took even more time.  Ha Ha - At least my ducks are happy since they love the puddles in the pen. I can't wait to be able to put them back on the lake in the spring when it thaws out for good. Then we won't have to worry about the coyotes getting them on the ice. Who knew coyotes could skate?
